I've started a new, recurring blog topic on the subject of stellar online product listings. I'll be trolling around the internet looking for arts and crafts product listings with great images and descriptions. This week, check out Misha Ashton Photography at online arts and crafts marketplace Supermarket.
Fantastic quality on the images and multiple views. Description gives the buyer everything they need to know about the size and dimensions of the item.
One suggestion - to really engage potential buyers, the artist should add information about the origin of the image.... Was doing a little internet research in the hotel to pass the time this evening and found numerous instances of other websites stealing my written word. There was a tie for my favorite thief - one was an arts and crafts site that actually stole my article, my image and my bio and posted it as their own.
The second went into a big hoopla on their policies page about other websites not stealing THEIR copyrighted material and included the following as one of their policies:

In addition to having relevant, interesting arts and crafts info in each issue, they also post some great directions on their website. Case in point, this one-page silk chrysanthemum pattern that you can download FOR FREE via a pdf file.

Do Arts and Crafts Festivals Kill Local Shop Traffic? - While I've written on this subject in the past, I just read an excellent article in The New Mexican (Santa Fe, New Mexico) discussing the subject. What I took away as the main point of the article is that local vendors are irritated that streets are closed at 6:00pm on Friday evening for weekend festival booth set up.
I see this as a valid point. While waiting until 10:00pm when the exhibitors may have to be setting up their booths in the dark is extreme - what about setting a compromise at 8:30pm?
Also, local business owners make the points that goods for sale are not well-juried, bringing down the tone of the shopping district (and decreasing foot traffic), and many of the vendors are from out of state who are not properly collecting sales taxes. ...
